Political Theology in the Contemporary Middle East

Political Theology in the Contemporary Middle East
HLRS held an international conference on political theology in the contemporary Middle East, with the participation of leading senior scholars in the field. The conference focused on the relationships between theological thought, political authority, and the public sphere in present-day Middle Eastern contexts. Discussions addressed questions of sovereignty, governance, violence, democracy, and religion–state relations, examining how theological frameworks shape political discourse and public practices. Alongside theoretical analysis, the conference presented case studies from various Middle Eastern settings, including Israel, and offered comparative perspectives across religious traditions and political contexts. The conference provided an international scholarly forum for research and discussion on contemporary political theology in the Middle East.
