Hagar Shalev

Hagar Shalev is an Indologist specializing in South Asia’s languages, religion, and philosophy, with a focus on yoga and meditation within Hindu traditions. During the 2024-2025 academic year, she serves as a Junior Fellow at the Center for the Study of Conversion and Inter-Religious Encounters at Ben-Gurion University. Her research examines pre-modern texts that explore bodily responses in trauma recovery and the influence of latent trauma on religious beliefs. Since October 2022, she has been a Postdoctoral Fellow on the ERC-funded project “The New Ecology of Expressive Modes in Early-Modern South India.”
