Galina Rabinovich, a PhD student at the Department of General History,\u00a0<\/span>University of Haifa, is working on her research project entitled “Discourses\u00a0<\/span>of the justification of violence in early Christianity.”<\/span><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

She delves into cruelty\u00a0<\/span>and violence, regarding them as umbrella terms that cover a variety of\u00a0<\/span>complex phenomena. Her focus is not solely on cruelty and violence\u00a0<\/span>themselves, but rather on the unique discourse associated with them.<\/span><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

The\u00a0<\/span>study allows us to rethink and redefine given concepts of violence and\u00a0<\/span>cruelty as a socially constructed and discursively conditioned\u00a0<\/span>phenomenon. Her PhD research is conducted under the direction of Dr.\u00a0<\/span>Moshe Blidstein at Haifa University.<\/span><\/div>\n

This year, she participated in the\u00a0<\/span>Annual Conference of the Israel Society for the Promotion of Classical\u00a0<\/span>Study.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>During the Early Career Researcher’s Workshop, she presented a\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>lecture titled “Persecution of Christians in the Roman Empire:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>historical\u00a0<\/span>context versus discursive reality.”<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
