A historian of early-modern Europe, he specializes in inter-religious relations and cultural perceptions.<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">His recently published book, An Economy of Strangers: Jews and the Commercialization of English Society, 1650-1830 (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2024) examines the conflicts between Christian ethics and the so-called financial revolution in Britain and demonstrates that one key avenue for accommodating this tension was by rethinking Jews and Judaism.<\/p><p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"text-align: left;\">Avinoam us also an educator, divested in several programs of humanistic education.
