Karen Levisohn, a fellow of the "Intertwined Worlds" program.

Karen is a high honor doctoral candidate in the Faculty of Business & Management at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Her research focusses on the entrepreneurship experience of Israeli-Jews who develop tourism initiatives in the Galilee region. Karen obtained a BSc in Industrial Management Engineering, followed by an MBA, both from the Technion.

After a meaningful career in the hi-tech industry (in Israel and the US) Karen made a career transition to tourism. She was certified as a tour guide, specializing in Christian tourism and wrote her thesis in the Department of Israel Studies at the University of Haifa, on initiatives of contemporary pilgrimage-tourism hiking trails in the Galilee region.

Karen is a lecturer at the Department of Tourism & Leisure Management at Ben-Gurion University. In addition, Karen serves as the research students’ representative on the Board of Directors of the Israeli Association for the Study of Religions. Her first publication (Kidron & Levisohn, 2022) came out at the British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies.
