Patriarch Nourhan Manougian

The 97th Armenian Patriarch of Jerusalem, born in Aleppo, Syria.
 In the beginning of his career, Patriarch Manougian
 served as pastor of the Armenian community in Geneva,
pastor of the Armenian communities in Jaffa and Haifa, as well as
Armenian communities in the Netherlands and the USA.

He is a graduate of Theological Studies of several global ecclesiastical institutions.

In 1998, Manougian was elected Grand Sacristan (ecclesiastical sacristan) of the
Armenian Patriarchate in Jerusalem and in 1999 he was ordained a bishop.
In 2009 he was promoted to the rank of Patriarchal Priest and in this role
he oversaw the patriarchy. In 2013 he was elected to the post of Patriarch.

In 2014, Patriarch Manougian received an Honorary Doctor of
Theology degree from the General Theological Seminary in Manhattan,
New York, NY, USA.
