Elizabeth Harris-Sawczenko

Elizabeth is recipient of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Award for Reconciliation and Interfaith, 2021

Elizabeth’s work with faith communities spans 30 years, in Jerusalem and the UK.

Elizabeth currently serves as: Interfaith Consultant at the Good Faith Partnership, Interfaith Adviser to the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace-UK; Interfaith Adviser to the Board of Deputies of British Jews and advises the Office of the Chief Rabbi and Lambeth Palace on interfaith matters through her work within her various roles.

Elizabeth is the former Director of the Council of Christians and Jews where she was the first Jewish woman director in its 80 years history.  She was also the sole Jewish delegate at the February 2023 Synodal Process to the Vatican, as part of the Catholic Bishops Conference. Through her work at the Abu Dhabi Forum for Peace Elizabeth works extensively with UK Muslim communities and their leadership.

Elizabeth was recently invited to a faith leaders’ consultation at Buckingham Palace with King Charles III on ways to address conflict between faith communities in the UK, resulting from the Israel Gaza war.

In 2022, Elizabeth organised a visit of Chief Rabbi, Sir Ephraim Mirvis, to the UAE, as a guest of Shaykh Abdallah bin Bayah, where he met with Muslim religious leaders from around the world that was widely covered by UAE and UK press

Previously, Elizabeth lived in Jerusalem for over two decades where, among other roles, she served as a Director at The New Israel Fund.  She participated in Track 3 of the Oslo Accords – People to People civil society initiatives between Palestinians and Israelis, during that period.

Elizabeth is a Kaiicid and Aspen Institute Fellow.
