Dr. Avinoam Yuval-Naeh is a senior research fellow at the Haifa Laboratory for Religious Studies. A historian of early-modern Europe, he specializes in inter-religious relations and cultural perceptions.
His recently published book, An Economy of Strangers: Jews and the Commercialization of English Society, 1650-1830 (University of Pennsylvania Press, 2024) examines the conflicts between Christian ethics and the so-called financial revolution in Britain and demonstrates that one key avenue for accommodating this tension was by rethinking Jews and Judaism.
Avinoam us also an educator, divested in several programs of humanistic education. He is the academic head of IDEA program at the Hebrew University, and within the Laboratory he is developing a program for religious studies for high-school students.
